Non-destructive testing
We carry out and develop standard non-destructive testing of semi finished and final metal products (or product made of other materials) in accordance with ISO, EN, ASTM standards. Our staff is qualified to EN 473 and SNT-TC-1A (CO-189).
Radiagraphic testing (RT) is carried out only within the laboratory. Ultrasound testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT) and liquid penetrant testing (PT) can be carried out also in the field.
RT – radiographic and radioscopic testing
Radiographic and radioscopic testing for detection and evaluation of defects in castings and welded joints, using:
- X-ray equipment 450 kV and videoscopy system (real time radiography), which enable us to successfully inspect steel castings and weldings up to max. 60 mm thickness.
-
Ir192 isotope for panoramic radiographic inspection of hollow thin-wall castings – max wall thickness 90 mm
-
Co-60 isotope for inspection of products to the thickness of 150 mm
UT – ultrasonic testing
Ultrasonic testing is used to find defects in forgings, castings, welds and different machine parts, for measurement of wall thickness. We use portable test equipment and manual scanning using normal beam and angle beam probes.
MT – magnetic particle testing
We conduct tests employing magnetic powders to detect surface discontinuities on ferromagnetic materials. We are also able to carry out demagnetization of heavy ferromagnetic pats and structures. Stationary and portable equipment is used for AC and DC magnetization with currents up to 8000 A. Coloured and fluorescent powders are used to visualize surface defects.
PT – liquid penetrant testing
Liquid penetrant testing is used for detection of surface discontinuities open to surface on all kinds of solid materials using coloured and fluorescent systems of penetrants. The Laboratory is equipped for the manipulation of heavy pieces up to 12 tons and 2.5m diameter.
